Julius Eric Turner began his career in the 1979 as an entertainment photographer in Washington, D.C. The part-time photography job transitioned into a twenty-year career in the music business. Turner worked as a sales and marketing executive for Capitol Records, EMI Records, Jive Records, and Arista Records. During the course of his music business career, Mr. Turner continued to pursue his passion for photography. He managed to get his photographs published in Sister 2 Sister magazine, Washington Entertainment magazine, Ebony Man magazine, and a feature photograph for the �The Weeks Best Photo� in JET magazine. Some of the entertainers that were candidly photographed by Mr. Turner include: Sammy Davis Jr., Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope, Quincy Jones, Lena Horne, Patti Labelle, Michael Jordan, Phyllis Hyman, Harry Belafonte, Bill Cosby, Elizabeth Taylor, Gladys Knight, Tupac Shakur, Tiger Woods, Andrew Young, and Stevie Wonder. Through My Lens is a photo essay book, chronicling the experiences and circumstances that led to the opportunities to photograph the entertainers. The book is filled with personal stories and brief biographical information of the entertainers that are pictured in the book. |
